Barrington, IL Police Department – Police Officer

Job Description

• Applicants shall be United States citizens or non-citizens who are eligible and permitted to work in the United States and able to meet all other qualifications for the position of police officer.
• Minimum age of 20 at the last date for filing an application (05/13/2024), must be 21 at date of hire. Maximum of 34 years of age at time of application deadline, unless otherwise provided by Illinois law
• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Valid driver’s license (valid Illinois driver’s license due by date of hire)
• At least 60 hours of college credits with a “C” average or better
• Must pass the police officer wellness (POWER) test administered by the Barrington Police Department.  (POWER cards from other testing agencies will not be accepted in lieu).
• Compliance with the Barrington Police Department’s Appearance Policy (Specifically no visible tattoos.  Questions may be addressed by calling 847-304-3303).
